The Fairfield Mules were on the road Friday night to face off with the Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton-Elverado (CZRE) Bearcats. Both teams started off slow in the 1st half with the game staying scoreless until 7 minutes to go in the half when CZRE opened the scoring. The Mules answered back 40 seconds later after a 48-yard run by Michael Barner followed up by a 13-yard Touchdown run by Quarterback Caden Best. The Mules added one more score before half with a 40-yard Touchdown pass from Caden Best to Breychan Kovacich. Not to be out done CZRE returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and then recovered a fumble on the next kickoff for another score. The Mules came back from halftime with a renewed energy and rattled off 24 unanswered points in the 2nd half highlighted by another 45-yard Touchdown pass from Caden Best to Breychan Kovacich. The Mules Defense locked down the Bearcats in the 2nd half, holding the BDC’s leading rusher Tripp Fletcher to only 12 yards, and walked away with a 40-19 victory.
The Vaughan’s Tire Offensive Player of the Game was Caden Best who had 5 completions for 130 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Best also had 9 rushes for 54 yards and a Touchdown.
