DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS NOVEMBER 1ST; REMEMBER TO TURN CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR

Daylight Saving Time will come to an end on Sunday, November 1st, giving most Americans an extra hour of sleep as clocks are turned back one hour.

Residents are reminded to set their clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night, October 31st.

The official time change takes place at 2 a.m. Sunday, when clocks move back to 1 a.m., marking the return to Central Standard Time.

Daylight Saving Time begins each year on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.
Fire safety officials also encourage residents to use the time change as a reminder to check smoke alarms, replace batteries if needed and review household fire escape plans. Families should have an escape plan that allows everyone to get out of the home within two minutes in the event of a fire.

The current Daylight Saving Time schedule was established under federal legislation passed in 2005. A U.S. Department of Energy study previously estimated that the extended schedule reduces daily electricity consumption by approximately one-half of one percent.

Daylight Saving Time will return on Sunday, March 14, 2027, when clocks will move forward one hour.
