The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department along with Wayne County Ambulance personnel responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash Tuesday afternoon, October 6th, at the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and County Road 690 in Grover Township.
According to the crash report, the accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. and involved a 2011 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 17-year-old Liam J. Green of McLeansboro and a 2014 Buick LaCrosse driven by 16-year-old William M. Allen of Peoria.
Authorities reported that Allen was traveling southbound on U.S. 45 behind a piece of farm equipment while Green was traveling northbound. Green attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 690 and struck Allen’s vehicle.
A passenger in Green’s vehicle and two passengers in Allen’s vehicle refused medical treatment at the scene.
Following the investigation, Green was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
