Wabash General Hospital District in Mt. Carmel has earned national recognition as one of the 2026 Best Places to Work in Healthcare, according to Modern Healthcare. The hospital ranked 18th among 75 organizations nationwide in the Provider/Insurer category, marking the seventh year Wabash General has received the recognition.
Modern Healthcare’s annual Best Places to Work program recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate positive workplace cultures, strong employee engagement and a commitment to supporting their employees while delivering quality patient care. The rankings are determined through an evaluation of workplace policies, practices, employee demographics and feedback from staff members.
Wabash General Hospital Director of Human Resources Megan Prosise said the recognition reflects the dedication, teamwork and commitment of hospital employees.
“This recognition reflects the culture our employees create every day through their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to caring for one another and the communities we serve,” Prosise said.
She added that receiving national recognition reinforces the hospital’s commitment to providing exceptional healthcare close to home. Wabash General Hospital District employs 682 people and provides a wide range of healthcare services throughout southeastern Illinois.
