Eldorado Community Unit School District 4 is mourning the death of former student Nolan Rogers, who was killed Tuesday evening in a crash involving a dirt bike and a pickup truck.
Superintendent Cody Cusic announced Rogers’ death in a letter to district families and the community Wednesday.
The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Locust and West streets in Eldorado.
Illinois State Police said a dirt bike and pickup truck were involved in the crash. The dirt bike operator, identified by police as Rogers, was taken to an area hospital and later died.
In his letter, Cusic said the district extends its thoughts, prayers and condolences to Rogers’ family, friends, classmates, teachers and others who knew him.
The district will make counselors, social workers and other support staff available to students and employees who need assistance.
Cusic also encouraged members of the school community to support one another in the days ahead.
The crash remains under investigation.
