Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker and his wife, First Lady MK Pritzker, made over $9 million in adjusted gross income in 2025, according to tax summaries released by his campaign on Thursday.
The tax summaries indicated the governor and his wife paid $2.1 million in federal taxes amd paid in $5.1 million, meaning they received a refund amounting to $2.8 million on $9.4 million in income. The couple applied the refund to their taxes for 2026.
The returns indicated most of Pritzker’s income came from earned interest, capital gains and dividends, as he doesn’t take a salary from the state.
The governor is one of the wealthiest politicians in U.S. history and an heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune. He is running for another term as governor against Republican challenger, Darren Bailey.
