A Southern Illinois nonprofit organization is planning to transform a portion of the Walker’s Bluff property into a regional gathering place for churches and Christian ministries.
Kingdom Collective has secured a lease covering the Legends building, 78 acres of property, a pavilion, gazebo and lake area.
According to Brittney Dillon, the organization plans to make the facilities available to churches and ministries through a membership program, allowing them to host Bible studies, youth camps, conferences and community events.
Dillon describes Kingdom Collective as a “ministry for ministries,” designed to help congregations share resources and strengthen relationships across denominational lines.
The organization began as a house church and eventually expanded into small groups, worship gatherings and other ministry activities.
Dillon says the opportunity developed through her longtime relationship with Walker’s Bluff owner and operator Cynde Bunch.
According to Dillon, Bunch and her son Brad offered the nonprofit a low-cost lease and access to existing event equipment and supplies.
The property will provide meeting rooms, shared workspace for pastors and church staff, and outdoor areas for seasonal festivals and other gatherings.
A church is also expected to meet regularly at the location, with a summer youth camp being planned.
Dillon says no major renovations are currently anticipated. Initial improvements will focus on cleanup, landscaping and decorating while preserving the property’s rustic character.
Beginning next month, Kingdom Collective plans to offer “Sips and Seas” coffee-and-tea gatherings, allowing church and ministry leaders to tour the property and learn about membership opportunities.
Dillon emphasized that participation will be open to Christian churches and ministries regardless of denomination.
