A Johnsonville woman was injured Wednesday evening in a three-vehicle accident in Wayne County involving a skid steer, an SUV, and a pickup truck.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred Wednesday at approximately 6:46 p.m. on County Highway 16 near County Road 115 East in the Keenes area. Deputies report that 67-year-old Sally L. Riley of Johnsonville was traveling behind a 2020 skid steer operated by Cletus M. Miller of Iuka when her 2008 Toyota 4Runner struck the equipment from behind.
Following the collision, Riley reportedly swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid the skid steer, traveled up an embankment, and overturned.
According to the crash report, the skid steer was also moving a dump bucket that was struck during the initial collision. The bucket was thrown into the roadway, where a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 60-year-old Bobby G. Cordell of Parkersburg struck it, causing damage to the driver’s side front end of his truck.
Riley was transported from the scene by Wayne City Ambulance personnel to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of injuries. No injuries were reported to Miller or Cordell.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department issued Miller a citation for an alleged violation involving red, white, oscillating, or flashing lights
