LINCOLN MEMORIAL BRIDGE TO CLOSE IN NOVEMBER FOR REPAIRS THROUGH MARCH 2027

Motorists traveling between southeastern Illinois and southwestern Indiana are being advised of an extended closure of the Lincoln Memorial Bridge beginning next month.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says State Road 441 will close at the Lincoln Memorial Bridge connecting Vincennes, Indiana, with Westport in Lawrence County, Illinois, beginning on or around Monday, November 16.

The closure will allow construction crews to continue repairs to the bridge’s facade.

According to INDOT, the bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic throughout the project, with work expected to continue through March 2027.

The official detour will direct motorists to U.S. Route 41 and U.S. Route 50.

Local traffic will still be permitted along State Road 441 up to the designated closure points, but drivers will not be able to cross the bridge during construction.

The closure will affect motorists who regularly travel between Knox County, Indiana, and Lawrence County, Illinois, including those commuting to work or traveling for business.

INDOT encourages drivers to plan ahead, allow additional travel time and use the posted detour or other alternate routes until the bridge reopens.

The closure date and construction schedule may be subject to change depending on weather and work conditions
