By Mark Wells Oct 28, 2026 | 6:00 AM

Fairfield’s annual Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 2 p.m., with several activities planned throughout the day to honor area veterans and recognize their service. Parade lineup will begin at 1 p.m. on North First Street near the High Rise, with positions assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Organizers are encouraging the entire community to participate, including veterans, veterans organizations, families, businesses, clubs and other groups. Participants are welcome to enter floats, decorate golf carts, carry signs, wear patriotic colors or simply walk together as a group. Elaborate floats are not required.

Residents are also encouraged to line the parade route, wave American flags and show their appreciation for those who have served in the military.

The day’s activities will begin with a breakfast for veterans and their spouses from 7 until 9 a.m. at the Catholic Church in Fairfield. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Dennis Zurliene at 618-599-8168 to help organizers prepare for the expected attendance.

At 1 p.m., a flag-raising ceremony will take place at Freedom Park, featuring the national anthem performed by Elizabeth Scarbrough. A concert by the Roasted Chestnuts will follow.

A luncheon will also be provided for all parade participants at the Wayne County Senior Center, located at 302 West Main Street in Fairfield. The luncheon is sponsored by FNB.

Organizers hope to see a strong community turnout as Fairfield comes together to recognize the sacrifices and service of local veterans.
