Downtown Fairfield will be filled with Halloween activities tomorrow (Friday) as the annual Boo! on Main celebration returns, sponsored by the Fairfield Recreation Committee and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.
The popular community event will kick off with trunk-or-treating from 5 until 7 p.m., with local businesses and organizations distributing candy and welcoming children and families dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes.
Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the celebration, allowing families to enjoy games, entertainment and other activities throughout the downtown area.
New this year, local musician Noah Atwood will provide live entertainment near the Wayne County Courthouse.
A free outdoor showing of the Halloween favorite Hocus Pocus will begin at 7 p.m. on Second Street.
The Frontier Bobcats will also be providing free hot dogs, while costume judges will recognize some of the evening’s most creative costumes.
The popular Grote House Halloween display will also be part of the festivities.
Several Fairfield businesses and organizations are participating, including Clay County Banking Company, Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Kiddie Kollege, Fairfield National Bank, Cornerstone Church and Christian churches.
Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Director Libby Lingafelter says the celebration is expected to continue until approximately 9:30 p.m., with downtown streets reopening to traffic by 10 p.m.
Boo! on Main is free and open to the public.
