The Fairfield Mules will hit the road tomorrow (Saturday) as they travel to Benton to take on the Benton Rangers in the first round of the IHSA Class 3A Football Playoffs.

The matchup will take place at Tabor Field in Benton, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. Fairfield advances to the first round following a convincing 32-7 victory over the Staunton Bulldogs in last Saturday’s opening-round contest at the Trainyard while Benton had an opening round bye.

Benton Athletic Director Shane Garner has announced several details for fans planning to attend Saturday’s playoff game.

Stadium gates will open at 1 p.m., with two separate admission lines available for fans purchasing tickets through the GoFan link at: https://gofan.co/event/7000752?schoolId=IHSA and two additional lines for those paying with cash.

Admission will be $6 for tickets purchased through GoFan or $8 when paying cash at the gate.  NO passes will be accepted.

Garner also noted that a large parking lot located across the street from the Benton High School gymnasium will be available for Fairfield fans who wish to tailgate before the game.

For Mules fans unable to make the trip to Benton, the game will be broadcast LIVE on WFIW-FM 104.9, with Mark Wells, Marty Slover and Austin Gibbs providing the play-by-play coverage and commentary.

Fans can also listen to the broadcast online through the “Listen Live” link at wfiwradio.com.  There is NO video streaming of the game due to IHSA and NFHS regulations.

Coverage begins Saturday afternoon at 1:30 with the Lemond’s Chevrolet-Chrysler Pre-Game Show, featuring an interview with Fairfield Mules Head Coach Justin Townsend, followed by kickoff at 2 p.m.

Mules fans are encouraged to make the trip to Benton, wear their red and black, and support Fairfield as the team continues its run through the IHSA Class 3A Football Playoffs.
