Wayne County Sheriff’s Department was busy yesterday (Wednesday) as four individuals were arrested.
Sheriff, Chris Otey was in the area of SW 7th St and Mt. Vernon Rd when he observed a red Ford F-150 turn south on NW 7th St off Mt. Vernon Rd when the vehicle abruptly pulled over to the side of the road and then turned west on Water St. Sheriff Otey had been previously notified by another deputy that the driver of the vehicle, 54-year-old Randal L. Vaughan of Fairfield with also an address listed in Albion had a suspended Illinois drivers license. Sheriff Otey and another deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with Vaughan and was granted permission to search the vehicle when a small plastic tube that was located was cut down to approximately 3 inches and one end was cut at an angle. The tube was field tested and a positive indication for the presence of methamphetamine was discovered. Vaughan was taken into custody, transported and booked into the Wayne County Jail on the drug charges.
Justin P. Downen, 52 of Fairfield and 47-year-old April Lee Turner also of Fairfield were both arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine. Downen and Turner was transported and booked into the Wayne County Jail.
Albion resident, 20-year-old Tyler R. Willis was apprehended on a Petition to Revoke warrant issued out of Wayne County on an Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without a FOID card. Willis was lodged in the Wayne County Jail pending a court appearance.
