HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL SATURDAY:
Fairfield Lady Mules placed 2nd in the Fairfield Invitational Volleyball Tournament Saturday at The Mule Barn. Pinckneyville placed 1st, Twelve teams participated in the tournament. After initial pool play, teams were then bracketed into a Gold, Silver, and Bronze Pool Bracket. Centralia beat Salem for 3rd Place in the Gold Bracket. Bethalto Civic Memorial defeated Benton to win the Silver Bracket, which was 5th Place overall. Hamilton County edged Robinson to win the Bronze Bracket, which was 9th Place overall. Jacqueline Dill of Pinckneyville was selected as the MVP of the Tournament. Jensyn Robbins, Myra Copeland and Kenzie Turner of the Lady Mules were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
FAIRFIELD LADY MULES VOLLEYBALL TEAM WILL PLAY IN THE NEWTON CLASS 2A REGIONAL TOURNAMENT:

CROSS COUNTRY REGIONALS FROM SATURDAY:
The Fairfield Mules Boys Cross Country team placed 4th at the Robinson 1A Regional and will now advance to next weekends Sectional at Lake Land College. Grant Jennette of the Mules placed 4th overall. The Lady Mules Cross Country team made history Saturday, winning the Robinson 1A Regional. This is the first time in school history.

FAIRFIELD FURY TRAVELING SOFTBALL:
Fairfield Fury 11u won the Monster Mash tourney in Evansville Saturday and the Fairfield Fury 14u won the Monster Mash tournament in Evansville Sunday.
IHSA STATE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF PAIRINGS RELEASED:
The Fairfield Mules (6-3) will travel to Greenville (8-1) in the 1st round of the 3A IHSA State Playoffs. Game time is set for Saturday at 2pm.

The Fighting Illini are down a few spots in the latest Top 25 rankings. After Saturday’s loss to the number one team in the nation, Oregon, Illinois dropped from 20th to 24th in the nation. It was the second loss of the season for the Illini. The team is hosting Minnesota this Saturday at noon.
