A police chase Thursday morning resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine items.
News reports say White County Sheriff’s deputies noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Stewart Street in Carmi and gave chase. Police reported the vehicle fled and later went airborne near Fackney and Seventh Street, eventually hitting a telephone pole. The driver, identified as Daniel Carlisle, fled the scene but was located a short time later. A passenger, Demerius Montgomery, exited the vehicle and was taken into custody. A search of Carlisle was made at the White County Jail, where officers found a meth pipe on him, and several items of drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle.
Carlisle was later taken to Hamilton Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
