The public corruption trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and co-defendant Michael McClain is set to continue on today (Monday) at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago. Former campaign worker Alaina Hampton is expected to testify following former staffer Will Cousineau, who has been providing evidence about Madigan’s associates, including Kevin Quinn, who was fired after Hampton accused him of sexual harassment.

In recorded conversations played in court, McClain discussed helping Quinn find a job, indicating that Madigan intended to assist him after being sworn in. McClain proposed paying Quinn $1,000 a month for consulting work, suggesting he could prepare reports on politicians.

Hampton’s lawsuit, settled for $275,000, claimed she faced severe harassment from Quinn starting in 2016. Madigan and McClain face 23 counts of bribery, racketeering, and misconduct for allegedly using Madigan’s position to benefit associates by promoting favorable legislation for Commonwealth Edison. The trial is expected to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, with a delayed start on Tuesday for Election Day voting.
