ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY RELEASES SEPTEMBER STATS FOR WAYNE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Employment Security has published its September statistics, revealing the following data for Wayne County:

Unemployment Rate: 4.6%, a decrease of 0.2%

Employment: 6,586 individuals

Labor Force: 6,903 individuals

It’s noteworthy that Wayne County’s unemployment rate peaked at 19.2% in April 2020.

In a positive trend, unemployment rates fell across the region in September.

In Clay County, the unemployment rate stood at 5.2%, down 0.3% from August.

Unemployment declined in every county in the region, with the most significant drops occurring in Fayette, Marion, and Richland Counties, each experiencing a 0.4% reduction.

 

Effingham County boasts the lowest unemployment rate in the area at 3.5%. Overall, Illinois’ unemployment rate for September is 5%, down 0.5% from August, yet still 1.1% higher than the national unemployment rate.
