HIGH SCHOOL SECTIONAL SWIM MEET SATURDAY:
The Fairfield Lady Mules swim team placed eighth overall in the Urbana Sectional Saturday out of 10 teams. The Lady Mules have had individual swimmers in past seasons but fielded enough girls this year to qualify for team points. They scored 29 in the Sectional, including scoring in relays.
HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY STATE MEET SATURDAY:
Fairfield Lady Mules Cross Country team finished in 28th place in the 1A State Cross Country meet held Saturday in Peoria. Adi Hickey once again led the Lady Mules, finishing 128th overall. Ella Sager wrapped up her FCHS cross country career finishing 142nd while Emeri Sager placed at 171, Brianna Meeks placed 182nd
and Remington Taylor placed 193rd
The Lady Mules were one of 30 full teams competing in the race, along with runners that advanced individually.
The Mules Boys Cross Country team was represented by Junior Grant Jennette, who ran a personal best on the year to place 41st as the lone Fairfield runner in the race. Jennette ran a 15:37.15 for his best race of the year.
MEET THE MULES NIGHT THIS THURSDAY NIGHT:
Fairfield High School will host, “Meet The Mules” night Thursday at the Mule Barn on Jed Foster Court for the upcoming winter sports season. Activities will begin at 6:30 pm with the Lady Mules Basketball team introductions and scrimmage followed at 7pm with introductions of the Mules Cheerleaders. At 7:10 pm, the Mules Boys Basketball team will be introduced with a scrimmage and then ending the night at 7:40pm will be the introduction and scrimmage of the Mules Wrestling team. Fans are encouraged to come out and meet the teams for the upcoming season. Admission is free.

The number-20 Illinois Fighting Illini look to stay undefeated when they host Oakland at State Farm Center tonight. The Illini are coming off a 90-58 rout over SIU-Edwardsville last Friday night. Illinois is off to a 2-and-0 start this season. Tonight’s contest gets underway at 8:00PM and the game can be heard on WFIW-AM 1390 with the Illini pre-game show on the Illini Radio Sports Network beginning at 7pm
NFL NEWS:
The Dallas Cowboys will be without their franchise quarterback for the rest of the season. Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones confirmed that QB Dak Prescott is set to undergo season-ending surgery to repair the partial avulsion of his hamstring. Prescott is set to have the surgery in New York on Wednesday. He was injured during the team’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons on November 3rd. Prescott finishes the season with 1,978 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
