The Grayville City Council met Monday night for a quick 13-minute meeting, presided over by Commissioner Andi Ford in the absence of Mayor Travis Thompson. With a light agenda and no executive session, the council efficiently addressed several items.
Former Finance Commissioner David Jordan announced that the electronics recycling event, originally canceled on November 9th, has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 30th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Christian Church.
Grayville resident and Chamber of Commerce representative, Penny Pritchett urged the council to consider adding lighting along the east side of Route 1. Pritchett recounted a near accident in the area, noting its dangerous lack of visibility and the need for improved safety for pedestrians. She mentioned reaching out to Ameren, which clarified that such lighting falls under city jurisdiction.
The council approved payment requests for two ongoing infrastructure projects:
Water main improvements: $73,126.55,
Sidewalk replacement: $1,293.26
The next meeting of the Grayville City Council is expected to revisit any ongoing concerns raised during this session.
