Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Cisne Fire & Rescue and ambulance personnel from Wayne City, and Clay County responded to a report of a head-on crash last (Monday) night on County Hwy 25, which is the Blue Mound Road at County Road 1850N northwest of Cisne. Deputies say just after 5:30, a 2004 Mazda Utility driven by 62-year-old Emily Pate from Louisville was traveling northbound on the Blue Mound Road and the second vehicle, a 2019 Chevrolet pickup driven by 60-year-old Ronald Williams of Cisne was traveling southbound on Blue Mound Road when for unknown reasons, both vehicles hit head-on in the middle of the roadway. The roadway at the time was covered with ice. Pate and three female passengers in her vehicle all from the Clay County area were transported by Wayne City and Clay County EMS personnel with two patients transported to Clay County Hospital in Flora and two transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, Ronald Williams refused treatment at the scene. The accident is still being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
