By Mark Wells Dec 5, 2024 | 11:53 AM

Early Wednesday morning, many residents in Wayne County found themselves without power due to an unexpected incident.  Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative identified the cause as a vehicle collision that damaged a utility pole in the northern part of their service area.

The cooperative took to social media to share a photo of the broken pole and explain the outage. “If you are in the northern part of our territory and wondered why your power was knocked out early this morning…this is why,” a spokesperson wrote on Facebook. “A vehicle appears to have struck and broken a pole and knocked power out this morning.”

Despite the disruption, the outage was resolved swiftly for most residents. Thanks to Hoosier Energy’s advanced grid technology, crews were able to reroute power through other electric feeds remotely, minimizing the impact on the area  The vehicle was never located.
