One man was charged following a high speed pursuit and crash Thursday afternoon in Franklin County.
Media reports say the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was notified early Thursday afternoon of a vehicle which had fled after authorities tried to pull it over on I-64 at the 56-mile marker. Deputies in Jefferson County saw the vehicle near the 95-mile marker on I-57, and the sheriff’s office said authorities tried to pull the vehicle over, but it kept going and reached speeds over 100 mph while weaving through traffic. Two miles south of the Benton exit, the vehicles crashed into several other vehicles and then left the roadway. Police caught up with the vehicle and took the passenger into custody, with the driver running into the woods. The passenger was later released after an investigation.
The driver of the vehicle was later located by a Johnston City and taken into custody. The driver was identified as 25 year old Sadarius Turner of Atlanta, Georgia. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and later released to the Jefferson County Justice Center. He faces charges of reckless driving and aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude.
