MLB NEWS:
The Chicago Cubs are parting ways with a former MVP. According to ESPN, the Cubs sent outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger to the Bronx in a trade with the New York Yankees. The Northsiders are also giving New York five-million-dollars to offset Bellinger’s salary. In exchange, the Cubs are receiving right-hander Cody Poteet. Bellinger is due 27.5-million-dollars next season with a player option for 25-million-dollars in 2026. The 29-year-old hit .266 with 18 home runs and 78 runs batted in last year. Poteet has a career 3.80 ERA with 69 strikeouts over 83 innings. In other Cubs news, the club sent catcher Matt Thaiss to the White Sox for cash yesterday.
