TRIAL DATE SET FOR FORMER WAYNE CITY POLICE CHIEF, ANSON FENTON

Federal authorities have scheduled January 28th as the trial date for former Wayne City Police Chief Anson Fenton. Fenton has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the misapplication of property from federally funded programs and interstate transportation of stolen property.

 

He is accused of selling forfeited items for his own gain, which includes two motorcycles and a 1991 Mustang. Fenton is set to appear in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis for a final pretrial hearing on January 21st. As a condition of his release on a personal recognizance bond, he was required to surrender all of his firearms, as well as his FOID and Concealed Carry License. If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 for each offense.
