The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class 1 recall for thousands of Handsome Brook Farms brand Signature Organic Pasture-Raised 24-Count Eggs sold at Costco locations in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The recall was prompted by a potential link to salmonella exposure, with the FDA warning that consuming the eggs could lead to serious health consequences or even death.
Approximately 10,800 retail units were distributed starting November 22nd, and the recall was initiated on November 27th. The affected egg cartons are marked with the numbers 327 and P1363, and have a use-by date of January 5th, 2025.
Handsome Brook Farms has stated that the issue arose from eggs not intended for retail sale being incorrectly packaged and distributed. They are implementing additional controls and retraining efforts to prevent future occurrences.
Consumers are advised not to eat the eggs and can either return them to Costco for a full refund or dispose of them.
