As of late Friday night, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported the hazmat situation earlier this week that resulted in the closure of I-64 westbound for a period of time has been contained and the lanes have been reopened.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office had originally alerted the public around 8:45 p.m. Thursday of a possible hazmat traffic incident and had asked the public to shelter in place after a traffic incident at the 66-mile marker. The shelter in place has since been lifted and the hazmat situation contained.
