Saline County officials have declared a disaster in response to the severe effects of Winter Storm Blair. The declaration, signed on January 6th by County Board Chairman Jay Williams, recognizes the widespread disruptions and hazardous conditions resulting from the storm, which has brought heavy snow, ice accumulation, power outages, and dangerous travel conditions to the area.

“This declaration enables Saline County to request additional resources and support from state and federal agencies to aid in our response and recovery efforts,” stated Allan Ninness, Saline County Emergency Manager. “Winter Storm Blair has significantly impacted our community, and this declaration ensures we can take the necessary actions to protect our residents and infrastructure.”

The disaster declaration activates Saline County’s emergency plans and establishes a framework for mobilizing resources and coordinating relief efforts. It also positions the county to obtain assistance for public safety operations, debris removal, road clearing, and the restoration of essential services.

Residents are advised to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary and to take precautions during this ongoing winter weather event. County officials are collaborating closely with emergency response teams, utility providers, and state agencies to address critical needs and restore normalcy as swiftly as possible.
