FAIRFIELD COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL BOARD MET THURSDAY, NEW GIRLS HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH HIRED

The Fairfield Community High School Board of Education met for their regular monthly meeting Thursday night in the FCHS Study Hall.  Items under the Consent Agenda; Open and Closed Session Minutes from the December 19th Board Meeting, approval of the Financial Report and payment of bills were all approved by the board.  The board voted to adopt the Resolution of Illinois Vision 2030 and set graduation for Saturday, May 17th at 2pm.

The board then went into an executive session to discuss personnel and then returned and approved the hiring of a new Girls Head Volleyball Coach.  Yvette Combs, the assistant under former Head Coach, Chet Snyder was hired as the new Head Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. Combs was hired on July 15th, 2021 as the assistant under Chet Snyder.  Snyder resigned just before the end of the season last year.  Snyder was then hired as the new Head Volleyball Coach at Frontier Community College.

The board approved the re-hiring of Macie Clark as a long-term substitute and approved to hire Jaleese Kinney as a Special Education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.  No action was taken on the employment of a Transportation Director for the 2025-2026 school year.  Current Transportation Director, Dennis Gifford will be retiring at the end of May.  The board voted to accept the retirement of Nina Dunn as a paraprofessional at the end of the FY25 school year.

Members of Be the Change Club along with their sponsor,  Mrs. Becky August spoke to the Board on activities throughout the current school year and due to inclement weather, tentative final student dates for semester exams is May 27th & 28th.
