Josephine M. “Josie” Williams, 96, a longtime resident of West Salem, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Bethel Manor, Evansville, Indiana.
Josie was born in Manila, Philippines on August 16, 1928. Josie met her husband, James Noel Williams during World War II. James and Josie settled in West Salem, Illinois to start their family. She retired from Champion Labs in West Salem, Illinois.
Josie was a member of Moravian Church in West Salem. Josie was a huge Elvis fan, enjoyed flower gardening and cooking. She loved traveling with her family to Florida and eating seafood. Above all, Josie loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchild and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Josie is survived by her daughter, Cindy Hocking (Patrick) of Evansville, IN; son, James Michael “Mike” Williams of Mt. Carmel, IL; grandchild, Aaryn Jade Clayton; great grandchildren, Kylie Jade Clayton and Karly Rae Clayton.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home.
There will also be a church service held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Moravian Church of West Salem, 57 E. Church St., West Salem, IL 62476 with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at West Salem Moravian Cemetery.
