The Wayne County Board convened on Thursday evening with all 14 members present.
Fairfield Mayor Gary Moore was present to inform the board of ongoing negotiations with a developer who is proposing a new hotel on Fairfield’s west side. He informed the board that the proposed tax on the finished project was estimated at $256,000 and that this was a non starter for the developer. After a lengthy question and answer session with Mayor Moore, the board agreed to further study the tax abatement request and asked that Mayor Moore make available to the board the feasibility study of the developer.
Sandy Beeson was present and informed the board that by state law, the assessor’s office must inform the public 48 hrs prior to a meeting of the Board of Review by placing said notice in a publicly accessible place.
Board chairman Hargrave appointed Nick Feather to the Wayne County Fire Protection board to a 3-year term.
Wayne County State’s Attorney Kyle Ellis informed the board that Rhonda Dinn has been hired as Assistant State’s Attorney.
In new business, the board unanimously approved the Wayne County trustees resolution from recent tax sales purchasers.
The board unanimously approved a county ordinance to reduce the number of election judges from 5 to 3 for General, Primary, and Consolidated elections.
The board unanimously approved an economic development loan to Samantha Baker for the new 6-Juan-8 Bakery in Fairfield. The amount requested was $30,000.
Following a short executive session to discuss personnel, the meeting was adjourned.
