The National Weather Service in Paducah says a COLD WEATHER ADVISORY remains in effect until 10am this (Thursday) morning for all of Southern Illinois. The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves and keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Light snow showers overnight has brought an additional light coating to half inch of snow across portions of Southern Illinois. Dangerous travel due to slick roadways and extremely cold conditions will continue as air temperatures will drop to near zero Friday morning.
