Testing Changes for Illinois College Bound Students

Some changes are coming for Illinois high school students preparing to apply for college.

Reports say students will now be required to take the ACT test instead of the SAT for the state’s standardized testing requirement.  A major difference between the two tests is that the ACT test includes a science and optional essay section.  The tests are also scored on different scales, with the ACT scored on a scale from 1 to 36, while the SAT is scored on a scale ranging from 400 to 1600.

Some students had indicated they are in favor of the change in the testing.
