Wayne City Man Among Two Arrested Following Washington County, IL Traffic Stop

Police in Washington County, Illinois say they arrested two people following a traffic stop late Thursday night.  One of those arrested was from Wayne City.

Reports say the driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Jesse R. Sexton of Wayne City, was charged following the traffic stop with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Parapernalia.  A passenger in the vehicle, 40-year-old Brandy M. Barns of Mt. Vernon, IL, faces charges of Unlawful Possession of Methampetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Susbstance and Unlawful Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.

Police stopped the vehicle shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday and found the suspected items following a vehicle search.  Suspected fentanyl was also found,according to the report.

Both were taken to the Washington County Jail.  At the jail, Barns indicated to police that she had additional contraband hidden on her, which police recovered.  It included suspected meth and hypodermic syringes.  Police did not release  any additional information.
