Wayne County State’s Attorney Kyle Ellis has initiated a petition to forfeit the home of 68-year-old Gregg L. Duckworth of Fairfield which is suspected of being involved in drug-related activities. Duckworth was arrested on January 28th when Wayne County police executed a search warrant at his residence on West Delaware Street, leading to the seizure of drugs, cash, and firearms. The petition aims to have both Duckworth’s home and the surrounding property forfeited.
Since the raid, Duckworth has been charged with multiple serious offenses, including two counts of armed violence (Class-X felonies), delivery of more than 15 but less than 100 grams of meth (also a Class-X felony), a Class-1 felony charge of meth possession, two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm (each a Class-2 felony), and two counts of unlawful use of property (each a Class-2 felony). If convicted of the Class-X charges, he could face up to 30 years in prison for each count.
Cody R. Buchanan, 33, of Geff, was arrested alongside Duckworth and faces drug possession charges, as well as additional pending meth-related charges from prior arrests.
Duckworth remains in custody at the Wayne County Jail after Judge Denton Aud revoked his pretrial release in a 2023 felony meth case. In his decision, Judge Aud highlighted Duckworth’s extensive criminal history and multiple pending felony charges related to methamphetamine and firearms. He stated that no conditions could adequately ensure Duckworth’s appearance in future hearings or prevent further felony charges.
A jury trial for Duckworth has been scheduled for April 7th.
