During Monday night’s meeting of the Grayville City Council, City Treasurer Sharon Walden announced that volunteers are being welcomed this Saturday as the city prepares the swimming pool for the upcoming season. Walden says volunteers will be working on the swimming pool; painting the outside. and they will take any kind of volunteer help from the community. Plans are to start at 8am and those intending to help will need yo sign a waiver. Waldren says they can be signed the morning of the detail or people can stop by city hall to sign the waiver during business hours.
The city also received an engineering update from Rex Gower, who reported that the water main replacement project is complete. Old mains have been capped and removed from service. Gower also mentioned a potential change order due to some cheaper line stops being used instead of insertion valves, which should result in cost savings. Additionally, the Illinois EPA issued a construction permit for the Albion/Grayville Water Treatment Plant on March 31st, and an application for the wastewater treatment plant grant is imminent.
In other business, leaders approved parade resolutions for both the Memorial Day parade and Grayville Days parade. They also renewed coverage with Shepherd Insurance for Gas Liability, and signed off on a special event liquor license for the Grayville Moose for June 14th, coinciding with the Hog Roast. The street closure request for the Hog Roast was also approved. It was also noted that the city currently holds assets totaling approximately $3.5 million. With the water main project nearing completion, the commissioners approved pay orders related to the work.
Meeting schedules for the upcoming year were established, with regular meetings set for the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7pm, except for May when the fourth Monday falls on Memorial Day, and the meeting will be moved to the next day.
The Library Board officers and members were ratified by the council. Officers include President Andy Brock, Vice President Marionette Blood, Secretary Dale Mosberger, Treasurer Kate Clark, and FOIA/OMA Officer Linda Bova. Board members also confirmed include Kayla DeStefano, Lana Pierson, Miranda Morris, and Scott Browning.
