Severe weather that was originally forecast for the area for Sunday has shifted. According to the latest from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, our area has been shifted to the general thunderstorm category for Sunday. The threat has moved to the south and west of our area.
Meanwhile, our area is back in the abnormally dry category when it comes to drought monitoring. According the the newest drought data which comes out on Thursdays, the entire area is abnormally dry. Throughout the region, the drought monitor show abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions. The drought outlook through the end of September favors drought conditions expanding north of Interstate 64, while improvement in drought conditions is favored across the MO Bootheel into northwest TN and for southwest KY.
