Sylvia Johnson, 78, of Norris City, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born on March 10, 1947, in Norris City, Illinois, the daughter of Alva and Ruth (Duvall) Phillips. Sylvia worked various jobs throughout her life. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, antiquing and was very meticulous with her lawn. Sylvia loved spending time with her family and friends.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Scott Johnson of Omaha, IL; grandchildren, Seth (Brooklyn) Johnson and Molly Johnson; a great-grandson, Wade Johnson; siblings, Doris Guinn, Vera Ziegler, Ailene Anderson, Barbara Brooks, Kathy Brooks, Michael Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles Phillips, Wayne Phillips, Frank Phillips, Everett Phillips, Herschel Phillips, Morris Phillips, Mary Lou Westbrook, Aldean Smythe and Marlene Horn.
Funeral services for Sylvia Johnson will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with burial at Powell Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sylvia’s name to the Linda E. White Hospice House, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
