WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO HOST FREE ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING EVENT MAY 17TH

Wayne County residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted electronic devices at a free Electronic Waste Recycling event on Saturday, May 17th. The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the former Wayne County Recycling Center, located at 501 SW 10th Street in Fairfield, Illinois.

This recycling event is open to all residents of Wayne County and aims to encourage responsible disposal of electronic items while promoting sustainability through the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” initiative.

Accepted items include computers, monitors, speakers, phones, stereos, keyboards, printers, scanners, TVs, cameras, DVD and MP3 players, video game consoles, and much more. Items with electronic boards and miscellaneous wiring will also be accepted.

Organizers emphasize that only household or individual electronic waste is permitted, in accordance with Illinois’ Consumer Electronics Recycling Act. Household and commercial appliances or hazardous materials will not be accepted.

The event is made possible by the Wayne County Health Department in collaboration with the City of Fairfield.
