36-year-old Aydreian D.A. Hooper of Fairfield has begun serving a 10-year prison sentence in connection with the tragic death of her 17-month-old son, Aaruan Hooper, who died after being left in a hot car last summer.
Hooper, convicted of child endangerment causing death, was transferred to Logan Correctional Center near Springfield on May 7th according to state prison records. The sentence was imposed earlier this month by Judge Thomas Dinn from White County Circuit Court.
Despite receiving a 10-year sentence, Hooper is projected to be eligible for parole on July 13th, 2029, and will remain under mandatory supervised release until July 14th, 2030.
The incident occurred on July 14, 2024, when Hooper left two of her young children unattended in a parked vehicle for several hours amid extreme heat. Authorities stated that she waited several more hours before seeking help. The delay proved fatal for Aaruan Hooper and left his older brother, Gage Hooper Gonzalez, with severe injuries
