2 WAYNE COUNTY BUSINESSES CITED FOR SELLING ALCOHOL TO MINORS DURING ENFORCEMENT OPERATION

By Mark Wells May 19, 2025 | 12:00 PM

The Illinois State Police (ISP) Investigations  Zone 8 has announced the results of a recent Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) surveillance operation conducted earlier this month across Wayne County. The enforcement initiative aimed to identify businesses selling alcoholic beverages to minors and ultimately reduce underage drinking and related traffic fatalities.

Out of nine establishments monitored during the surveillance, two businesses were cited for violations:

Midtown Package Liquors, Fairfield

Mike’s Package Liquor, Wayne City

Employees at both businesses were cited for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor, a Class A misdemeanor. All individuals involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  The project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
