Nearly 18,000 containers of ice cream and frozen yogurt from two major brands are being recalled due to potential plastic contamination.
The recall affects 22 different flavors produced by Blue Bunny and Halo Top, with products distributed across the country. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed that Wells Enterprises issued the voluntary recall late last month.
The affected products were sold in three-gallon tubs, primarily used in food service settings. The FDA has classified the recall as Class II, meaning consumption of the contaminated products could lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
Consumers and businesses in possession of the recalled items are urged not to serve or consume them. Further details, including specific lot numbers and affected flavors, are available through the FDA and Wells Enterprises.
No serious injuries have been reported as of now.
