A Mount Vernon woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting her husband Monday night at their home in rural northern Franklin County.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9:05 p.m. to a 911 call from a man reporting he had been shot by his wife. Upon arrival, deputies found the injured man, who was transported by ambulance to Franklin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, a Jefferson County deputy located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The woman, identified as 49-year-old Clarissa R. Schilly of Mount Vernon, was taken into custody.
Schilly has been charged with:
Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X Felony)
Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony)
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Class 3 Felony)
Authorities also discovered Schilly was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Franklin County for failing to appear in court on a previous theft charge.
She remains in custody as the investigation continues.
