The North Wayne Community Unit School District #200 Board of Education met Wednesday night, May 21, for its regular monthly meeting, approving a range of personnel changes, program updates, and budget decisions.
During the meeting, the board approved the consent agenda, which included:
Minutes from the April 16 regular meeting
Personal leave and dock day requests
The resignation of Summer Braden as CMS Assistant Softball Coach
A retroactive overnight trip for FFA students on May 1
Increases to revolving funds for CHS and CMS
Approval for the Cisne Pony League to use the CHS baseball diamond for practices and games
A $1,000 donation to the CHS FFA from the Mt. Erie Ruritan Club
The board also voted to implement a longevity-based pay increase for non-certified aides, allowing them to transition to the certified aide pay scale after five consecutive years of employment.
Committee assignments for the board were established as follows:
Building – Williams, Moore
Finance – Moore, Edmison
Curriculum – Samford, Gill
Policy – Samford, Endsley
Transportation – Atwood, Williams
Negotiations – To be determined at a later date
The board approved the CHS FFA’s attendance at the State Convention from June 10–12.
In financial matters, the board approved an amendment to the FY25 budget and scheduled a budget hearing for 5:50 p.m. prior to the June meeting.
Additionally, two service agreements were approved:
With Common Goals (Teacher Ease) for online student registration
With Apptegy to provide website and mobile app services for the district
The board also approved changes to the student handbook as presented.
A decision regarding the installation of a large fan in the Mt. Erie Elementary gym was tabled for future discussion.
Following executive session, the board took the following personnel actions:
Hired Misty Ellis as CMS Head Softball Coach
Hired Lauren Grace Conard as CMS Assistant Softball Coach
Hired Summer Braden as CHS Assistant Volleyball Coach
Hired Beth Sessions as CHS Business Teacher, pending proper certification
Hired Collin Klingler as Assistant Athletic Director for the 2025–26 school year
Promoted Jasmine Moore from full-time substitute to Certified Special Education Teacher at Mt. Erie Elementary
Hired Summer Williams as an individual aide at Mt. Erie Elementary
Hired Lacey Bunting as an individual aide at Johnsonville Elementary
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June, preceded by the public budget hearing.
