The Fairfield Lions Club revved up community spirit on Saturday, May 17th, with its 2nd Annual Car Show, drawing an impressive 118 entries from across the Tri-State region. Held at Leo French Park, the event proved to be a resounding success, featuring a wide array of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors—some with remarkable historical significance.

Among the standout vehicles was a 1915 Pershing Packard, originally built for World War I General “Black Jack” Pershing. The meticulously restored vehicle was brought to Fairfield by a car enthusiast from Boonville, Indiana. Another highlight was a rare 1957 DeSoto Adventurer, showcased by a participant from the St. Louis metro area.

Top honors were awarded in five categories:

Top Car (1974 or Older)

Top Car (1975–1999)

Top Car (2000 or Newer)

Top Tractor

Top Motorcycle

Photos of the award-winning entries captured the pride and craftsmanship on display throughout the event.

The Fairfield Lions expressed deep gratitude to Carter Turf and Tractor for providing transportation assistance for attendees with mobility challenges, making it possible for everyone to enjoy the show. The Wayne County Historical Society also played a special role by opening the historic Olive Branch Schoolhouse to visitors during the event.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital supported the community gathering by hosting a booth and handing out free lemonade and t-shirts. Generous contributions from Fairfield National Bank, LeMond’s Chevrolet Chrysler Center, and numerous local sponsors made the event and its silent auction a great success.

“This year’s show was even better than last year’s,” said Fairfield Lions Club President Rod Vaughn. “We hope to see it continue to grow even bigger in the years to come.”

Proceeds from the event will help fund community projects and initiatives supported by the Fairfield Lions Club, whose mission is to serve and uplift the community through volunteer efforts and charitable contributions.
