Harold Bruce Reeves, 76, of Fairfield

Harold Bruce Reeves, 76, of Fairfield, IL, passed away in Saint Louis, MO, on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Bruce was born on December 30, 1948, in Mt Vernon, IL, to Harold (Jokes) and Robie (Fearn) Reeves.

Bruce was a member of the FCHS Class of ’67 and proud to be a lifelong Mule. He earned his degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where he worked in the SIUC Athletic Department for Abe Martin. He had a long career with National Oilwell, working out of supply stores in Michigan, Kentucky, and Illinois.

Bruce and Linda Ann Grubb were married on Bruce’s birthday, December 30, 1994, at First Christian Church in Fairfield. Bruce was an active First Christian member from childhood, serving as a 6th Grade Boys Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Elder.

Bruce served on various community boards, volunteered at numerous events, and participated in multiple organizations. He was a member of the FCHS Alumni Association, the Zoning Commission, and served as Chairman of the Wayne County Board. Bruce was always eager to pitch in for friends and family. He coached Junior Football and assisted with the Veterans Day Parade. He enjoyed cooking at the Saint Edwards Sausage Dinner and First Christian’s Taco Tuesday.

Bruce is survived by his brother Kent E. Reeves of Fairfield, IL, and his sister Sue Aman of Oklahoma City, OK. His children are John Reeves of East Peoria, IL, Stephen (Shasta) Reeves of Fort Myers, FL, Jane Reeves of Fairfield, IL, Sarah (Bryan) Pickens of Tell City, IN, Matt (Tracy) Atwood of Xenia IL, Nathan (Courtney) Atwood of Flora, IL, Laura (James) Beeson of Johnsonville, IL, and his brother-in-law, Karl Grubb of Cape Canaveral, FL. Bruce and Linda were proud of their 22 Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Robie Reeves; his wife, Linda Reeves; one brother, Kim W. Reeves; and sister-in-law, Susan Couch Grubb.

Bruce Reeves’s funeral services will be at noon on Thursday, May 29th, at the First Christian Church in Fairfield, IL, with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

The family would like to invite friends, family, and members of the Class of ’67 to a funeral reception following the graveside service. The family looks forward to celebrating Bruce with his friends and sharing his favorite – DiMaggio’s pizza at First Christian Church Basement.

Memorial donations can be made to the First Christian Church and will be accepted at Bruce’s funeral service or may be mailed to Fairfield First Christian Church, 100 West Center, Fairfield, Illinois 62837.
