By Mark Wells May 26, 2025 | 11:57 AM

The City of McLeansboro is gearing up for its annual City Wide Cleanup, scheduled to take place from May 28th through May 31st.

Residents can drop off their cleanup items at the city’s light plant located at 312 W. Market Place. Drop-off hours are Wednesday through Friday from 7:45am to 3:30pm  and Saturday from 7:45am to noon. Please note that no after-hours dumping will be permitted.

Important guidelines include restrictions on certain items: tires, batteries, air conditioners, furnaces, computers, TVs, liquids, and yard waste will not be accepted. Additionally, doors on white goods such as refrigerators and washing machines must be securely fastened or removed prior to drop-off.

For residents needing assistance transporting larger items to the light plant, a few local churches have volunteered to help. To request assistance, residents should call City Hall at 618-643-2723 and ask to be added to the pickup list. When calling, be prepared to provide your name, address, phone number, and details about the assistance needed. Your information will be forwarded to the volunteer help teams.

Residents may also be asked to show proof of residency when dropping off items to ensure eligibility for the cleanup program.
