Ronald Edwin Adcock, 72, of Bluford, Illinois passed away on June 1, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. Ron was born May 25, 1953 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Joseph Nelson Adcock & Vada (Johnson) Adcock. Ron married Anita Jo (Fenton) Adcock on September 9, 2000. They have been blessed with 24 years of marriage.
Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1974 on the USS Richmond K. Turner, deploying from San Diego, California and serving in the Vietnam War. In the past, Ron served his community by volunteering for the Ruritan Club in Bluford, and serving on the Bluford Village Board. He was an organ donor. Ron loved his children and grandchildren, and loved sharing their many accomplishments and stories about them. He loved fishing and collecting vintage radios. He enjoyed dressing up like Santa Claus for Christmas in the Park in Mt. Vernon and other occasions. Several will always remember his familiar saying, “Who loves you baby; me and Jesus!”
He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, testifying to all who would listen. He had several ministries such as sharing a red rock and a little wooden cross and would describe what they symbolized as a reminder of what God has done for us. He was a friend who would help those in need by mowing, giving rides, visiting in nursing homes, teaching others how to change oil in their vehicles, among other things. He made others feel very special by the attention that he gave them, reaching many people and making many connections. He was active in his local church, Eastside Gospel Lighthouse Community Church in Mt. Vernon. He loved praising God by playing specials in church on his Harmonica. His favorite song was Amazing Grace, and Ron’s favorite scripture is Isaiah 59:1 – “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.”
Ron is survived by his wife, Anita Jo Adcock; 3 children: David Adcock & Tina Raby, Bradley & Robyn Adcock, and Elizabeth & William Hollenbeck; 7 grandchildren: Dakota Adcock, Bradley Adcock, Raya & Dane Horton, Mylee Adcock, Kanscha & Tariq Burns, Wyatt Dutton and fiancé Emily, and Madalyn Dutton; and 4 great-grandchildren: Stella Horton, Bradley Horton, Khalil Burns, and Amari Burns; a sister Sherry Beckham & husband Bill, a brother Howard Adcock & wife Terrie; 2 sisters-in-law: Verla Adcock and Mary Jo Adcock.
