Most area rivers remain below flood stage as of this morning, with more rain chances this weekend.  Here’s the latest stages: the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 19.53 feet.  Flood stage is 17 feet.  At Clay City the stage is 12.23 feet, below the 18-foot flood stage.  At Carmi the river is at 22.73 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 10.25 feet.  Flood stage is 15 feet.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 12.7 feet.  Flood stage is 19 feet.  Bonpas Creek at Browns reads 15.1 feet.

Rain chances are in the forecast for the area this weekend.  A couple of dry days are expected Sunday and again around midweek before more rain chances return.  The extended forecasts, running through June 20th,  indicate above normal temperatures and precip expected.

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map shows the dry and drought conditions in Illinois north of a line running from Springfield to Decatur to Champaign.
