FLORA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PREPARES FOR 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION

The Flora Chamber Of Commerce is preparing for this year’s Independence Day festivities promising an unforgettable day of entertainment, food, and patriotism.  Events start Friday, July 4th at 12 noon and run until 8pm in Charley Brown Park.

 

Highlights of the event include the Lisa Erbacher Country Financial All American Boy & Girl Contest, where children aged 3 to 7 can showcase their patriotic spirit. Parents can still register their little ones by visiting Lisa’s office at 847 East North Avenue, Unit A, in Flora.

 

Food enthusiasts will enjoy a variety of treats from local food trucks and vendors, including Poe’d Smoked BBQ, Krazy Sweet Treats, and The Fair Lady. For friendly competition, a 4th of July Cornhole Tournament is scheduled—registration details will be announced soon.

 

Fun-Z Face Painting will be on hand to turn faces into festive works of art, and the community can look forward to the return of Big Trucks In A Small Town (EMS Edition). Kids and adults alike will enjoy sights and sounds from Clay County’s first responders, including a fly-in from Air Evac Lifeteam #28  in Effingham

Throughout the afternoon, visitors can explore a variety of emergency vehicles on display. Clay County Hospital and Medical Clinics will feature their ambulance, along with a Clay County Sheriff’s Office squad car, Flora Police Department squad car, and Flora/Clay County E.S.D.A. with BART and their brand new rescue ambulance making its debut. The IDNR will also have Officer Vic and his truck on display.

 

Additional attractions include the Sons of the American Revolution Flag Presentation, and the Lucky R Petting Zoo, offering adorable animals for kids to pet and feed.

 

The grand finale of the celebration will be a spectacular fireworks show at dusk, presented by Flora Tourism and the City of Flora.
