ILLINOIS SECRETARY OF STATE AWARDS GRANT FUNDING TO LOCAL LIBRARIES

The Illinois Secretary of State’s office is awarding nearly $20 million in grant funding to libraries across the state to help ensure all Illinois residents have access to quality resources and programming, Secretary of State and State Librarian Alexi Giannoulias announced.

 

Several area libraries are among the recipients.   Fairfield Public Library will receive $7,202.43;  Flora Public Library will receive $7,803.43; Kinmundy Public Library will receive $1,081.18; Olney Public Library will receive $12,833.98; Effingham Public Library is set to get $18,071.70; and Bryan-Bennett Library in Salem will receive $10,740.95.

 

According to the Secretary of State’s office, 639 public libraries statewide will receive nearly $18 million in per-capita grants. Funding amounts are determined using a statutory formula based on each community’s population.
